In 2024, Josephine took a leap of faith and started working on her own bag brand, Dah_Lær. With a focus on craftsmanship and sustainability, each bag is made from ethically sourced materials, reflecting her commitment to timeless design.
Dah_Lær was born out of a quiet but passionate vision—a journey that began a year ago. A thought that started moving in to existence, taking the time that was needed to compose this notion. Making sure each facet is in line with the conception, that now goes by the autonym, Dah_Lær.
Built on the principles of craftsmanship, sustainability, and a deep connection to heritage. Every bag is meticulously handmade, crafted from repurposed leather hides that are personally curated, bringing new life to materials once forgotten.
Dah_Lær draws its aesthetic inspiration from the designer's Norwegian heritage, with elements of Nordic noir deeply woven into every piece. The brand name itself is a subtle homage to this heritage, a twist on the designer's mother’s surname, now interpreted as "leather." This blend of Nordic roots and contemporary design influences creates a collection that feels timeless, yet deeply personal, capturing the mystery and elegance of the North in each carefully crafted bag.
The collections are released off-schedule, embracing the essence of slow fashion, where creation is driven by the process rather than the clock. This intentional approach allows for a truly unique offering, where each drop feels like an unfolding story rather than a scheduled release. The bags feature custom hardware and a signature toggle closure—an innovative design detail that speaks to both functionality and artistry.
